We decide that for each shipment when we prepare your quote. From Southern California, a container can sail from the port of Los Angeles, which takes about 30–38 days to Gdynia. It can also travel overland to another US port first. For reference, the sailing to Gdynia takes about 24–30 days from Houston, 18–24 days from Savannah and 16–20 days from New Jersey. Your quote names the port and gives the expected door-to-door time. From Los Angeles, that is usually 7–8 weeks.

Your load goes to a US loading port that we choose when we prepare your quote, and from there by sea to Gdynia. If we can place a 40-foot high-cube at your address (we confirm that in your quote), you load it yourself within a set loading window. Any time beyond the window is billed by the hour, and a part hour counts as a full hour, so have everything packed and a few helpers ready before the container arrives. If you'd rather not load it yourself, our staff can do it for an extra fee. Availability depends on your area, so mention it in your request and we'll confirm it in the quote.

First, it must be empty inside. Everything you're bringing goes in the container next to the car, and a motorcycle can ride along too. Second, the US export paperwork: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) needs the original title or a certified copy, plus two complete copies. If the car is leased or has a recorded lien, you also need a signed letter on the leasing company's or lienholder's letterhead that expressly allows the export. The car and its documents must be presented to CBP at the port of export at least 72 hours before export by vessel, so ask for that letter before you book the container.

Yes, but duty relief then comes with extra conditions. According to the Polish government portal podatki.gov.pl, if your belongings arrive before you've settled in Poland, you must post a security and commit to taking up residence in Poland within 6 months. The general conditions still apply: you've lived outside the EU without a break for at least 12 months, you've had and used the things for at least 6 months before leaving the US, and you'll use them for the same purpose in Poland. Alcohol, tobacco, commercial vehicles and trade or professional equipment that isn't portable are not covered. As a rule, you can also ship your belongings in several batches within 12 months of settling in Poland. Customs decides each case, and duty relief doesn't automatically mean relief from VAT and excise. We clear household goods in Gdynia on your power of attorney.
