Shipping to Poland from Chicago and the Midwest

By land first. Your container or LCL load travels overland from the Chicago area to a US loading port that we choose for your shipment, and from there it goes by sea to Gdynia. We organize both legs, plus customs clearance of household goods in Gdynia and the final delivery.

It depends on the pickup date and the route, so we confirm the door-to-door time in your quote. For reference, the ocean leg alone takes about 16–20 days from New Jersey, 18–24 days from Savannah and 24–30 days from Houston to Gdynia. The overland leg from Chicago comes on top of that.

Yes. A car can travel in the same 40-foot high-cube as your household goods, as long as the car is empty inside. A car, a motorcycle and your household goods can all go together in one container.

No. Smaller loads go as shared LCL: your things share a container with other customers' shipments and you pay by volume, per cubic meter. The minimum charge is 1 m³, and boxes or parcels are consolidated and priced within that minimum. You can send your boxes to our warehouse in Irvington, New Jersey, and we'll add them to a shared container.

We can place a 40-foot high-cube at your address and you load it yourself. There is a set loading window, and any extra time is billed by the hour (a part hour counts as a full hour), so it pays to have everything packed and ready before the container arrives. If you'd rather not load it yourself, our staff can do it for an extra fee. Tell us about parking and access at your address when you ask for a quote.

Not if you are moving your residence to Poland and the conditions for duty relief are met. According to the Polish government portal powroty.gov.pl, duty relief covers personal belongings you have owned and used for at least 6 months, if you lived outside the EU for at least 12 months and you'll use them for the same purpose in your new home. Alcohol, tobacco, vehicles intended for business use and business equipment (other than portable tools of your trade) are not covered. Duty relief does not by itself mean relief from VAT or excise duty: whether those exemptions apply is decided separately under tax law. The customs authority decides each case individually. We clear household goods in Gdynia: you give us a power of attorney and the documents, and you don't deal with customs officers yourself.
